We all love technology. What’s life without the convenience of the digital world? Technology has become part of our lives in every aspect.

To many, a day without the use of a mobile device is a day wasted. With online classes, educational vlogs and blogs that answer questions, surely online is the place to be?

The increased use of digital media is changing people’s everyday lives and the way they connect and collaborate in the broader societal context, at work and in civil society. Much of the impact of this heightened use is beneficial to both individuals and society. It is enabling unprecedented levels of communication, social interaction and community building across boundaries of time, place and social context.

Research indicates that when humans excessively use digital media it can negatively influence their cognitive and behavioural development and even their mental and physical health.

Clearly, it is important to understand the opportunities and the risks in increased digital media usage, so that both industry and users can learn how best to exploit the benefits while mitigating the negative effects.

For healthy individuals, “it’s just a matter of preference,” says Alcibiades Rodriguez,  professor of neurology at NYU School of Medicine. There is no sleep posture that’s ideal for everyone.Sleep advice sites make a lot of unsupported claims: that sleeping on your right side protects your heart but causes facial wrinkles, that sleeping on your back helps clear the brain of waste products. But there is very little research to suggest that any position is better than another.

The Goodtimes Virus was quite possibly the internet’s first ever computer virus hoax. It warned people not to read or download any email with the subject of “Good Times”, because the messages were viral and would erase their hard drives, despite the fact that it is completely untrue.

The ‘Good Times’ virus does not exist. It’s a hoax

This was one of the most succesful hoax, started in 1994 and is still continuing.

A new study from the University of California, says
“Contrary to the common belief that smartphones and social media are damaging adolescents’ mental health, we don’t see much support for the idea that time spent on phones and online is associated with increased risk for mental health problems,”

The reason why the blockchain has gained so much admiration is that:

  • It is not owned by a single entity, hence it is decentralized
  • The data is cryptographically stored inside
  • The blockchain is immutable, so no one can tamper with the data that is inside the blockchain
  • The blockchain is transparent so one can track the data if they want to

A blockchain is a distributed digital public ledger. A block is a record, and a blockchain is another word for a chain of records. This chain of records is stored across different computers and is distributed as opposed to a single database. To change one block would require changing all the blocks. Since the blockchain is spread across a large network, this becomes extremely difficult proposition, especially because unique key encrypts every block. This is the reason for its high security and privacy.

When you turn on your device’s Wi-Fi capabilities, You look at some of the names of your neighbors’ connections.
